George Mason High School
Jeremy Stewart scored 13 points and Will Nunley matched him with 13 of his own as GM pummelled Rapphannock County 90-16 last night at MEH. Cal Hannan and Rand Walter scored 10 apiece for Mason, who is now 17-3 over all and 11-1 in the Bull Run District. Hannan nailed his frst two three-pointers of the year in the fourth period, and tallied 8 points in the frame. Stewart, still working his way back into game form after missing significant time with a broken thumb and mononucleosis, connected on two 3-pointers as well, and scored 11 of his points in the opening quarter. Nate Ogle, who suffered a knee injury in Monday's victory over The Avalon School, was held out of the game as a precaution.
Mason travels to second place William Monroe Friday night in the biggest game of the season to date. A 'Stang victory locks up the BRD regular season title and the #1 seed in the district tournament. GM would also host the tournament, a huge advantage that Mason has not enjoyed in recent memory. A Greene Dragon victory would set up a potential one-game playoff for the district crown at a neutral site. Game time is 7:45 in Standardsville.
