Suffocating defense and deadly shooting propelled the Mustangs to a resounding road win Tuesday night 68-25 over Strasburg. Noel Obusan led the scoring with 13 points, followed by Eion Oosterbaan with 11, and Philippe Griffiths and Nate Ogle with 10 apiece.
After spotting the Rams (6-5, 2-2 BRD) an early 4-0 lead, a Griffiths triple spurred a 17-0 GM run spanning the first and second quarters, and things only got worse for the home squad from there. Oosterbaan nailed all three of his triples in the second quarter, and Griffiths, Ogle and Obusan added threes of their own to push Mason's lead to 35-14 at intermission.
Mason (8-3, 3-1) didn't let up after the break either, going on a 15-2 run to start the third period to lead 50-16 with 3:00 left, which caused the 'Burg to raise the white flag. GM hit 12 3's on the night, with Angel Casteneda, Drew Nickle, Will Powell and Rand Walter getting in on the long range action.
The Mustangs travel to Rappahannock County Friday for a BRD tilt against the winless Panthers. Game time is 7:45.
