Philippe Griffiths scored 13 points and Nate Ogle added 10 as GM cruised to a 72-39 victory over Central-Woodstock Tuesday at MEH. Will Nunley added 9 and Noel Obusan 8 for the Stangs, who improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Bull Run. Central falls to 1-7, 0-3.
Mason jumped out to a 12-0 lead, and after a brief Falcon flurry cut the score to 14-8, finished the half on a 27-7 run to put the game out of reach. The Stangs pressure defense caused numerous Falcon turnovers that led to easy baskets, which was the key factor in the rout. Senior guard Will Powell dropped 4 points, his first of the season, and added 3 steals while Jeremy Stewart continued his improvement coming off a broken thumb, scoring 6 and grabbing 5 boards and 4 steals.
GM is off until Decemeber 27 when the squad competes in the Joe Cascio Memorial Holiday Tournament at Falls Church High School. The Mustangs take on Route 7 rival Marshall in the opening game of the tourney, tip off is at 2:45.
