George Mason High School
Philippe Griffiths and Nate Ogle scored 13 points apiece to lead GM to a 61-47 victory over Freedom-South Riding last night at MEH. Down 14-9 in the opening minutes of the second period, Mason (2-1) went on an 10-0 run led by Drew Nickle's 4 points, along with three pointers by Griffiths and Ogle to take command. A late three ball by Dmitri Venets at the halftime buzzer pushed GM's lead to 29-22 at the break.
The Mustangs completely shut Freedom (2-3) down in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 13-3 in the stanza to essentially put the game away. Noel Obusan scored 9 for Mason, dished out 5 assists and had 3 steals and 4 rebounds. Eion Oosterbaan added 7 points and 4 assists, while Nickle and Venets dumped in 6 points apiece. Ogle led on the boards with 9. The Stangs were again clutch from the free throw stripe, nailing 15 of 18 for the game with Ogle leading the way, going 6-6.
Mason is home again Friday night as they take on The Avalon School at 7:45 at MEH.
